The Ukrainian forces, in their fight against the Russian occupation, have resorted to using rockets to disperse internationally banned antipersonnel land mines over the eastern regions of Ukraine. This evidence, collected by the esteemed organization Human Rights Watch, adds to their previous findings which indicate that Ukrainian forces have deployed thousands of these mines, causing harm to civilians and violating the Mine Ban Treaty of 1997, which Ukraine has ratified. It is worth noting that Russia, a non-signatory of this treaty, has historically utilized these mines far more extensively than Ukraine.
